Keston Sutherland + Pat Thomas & Martin Hackett

via Dominic Lash

Friday 3 December – the day after Counting Backwards –  at the Albion Beatnik Bookshop in Oxford if you can get there.

Poetry and improvised music at their finest: two sets each from Keston Sutherland (poetry) and Pat Thomas & Martin Hackett (electronic improvisation).

Keston Sutherland lives and works in Brighton. His books include _The Stats on Infinity_, _Stress Position_, _Hot White Andy_, _Neutrality_, _The Rictus Flag_ and _Antifreeze_. His theoretical study of Karl Marx, human jelly, being made wrong, making other people wrong, doubt as an origin of happiness and the meaning of fear for deconstruction, _Stupefaction: a radical anatomy of phantoms_, will be published by Seagull Books in May 2011.

Pat Thomas and Martin Hackett are two of the most unpredicable and energising improvisers to be found anywhere. Pat’s most recently released CD, “4 Compositions for Orchestra” (with the Oxford Improvisers Orchestra) was described by New York’s Downtown Music Gallery as “one of this year’s most uncompromising treasures”. Having previously worked together in a piano/electronics duo, this evening will feature electronics all round.

Entrance £5/£3
